The Preschool Ministry is located in the South Hallway, near Entrance #2, which is the entrance by the playground. Look for the Safari Park sign and the giant tree. This is the entrance used for all church activities.
Safari Park is for children ages Birth thru Kindergarten.
Sunday School
Our Bible Study teachers are in the classroom by 9:00 am to accept your child. Your child is special to us here at SGBC. We believe that preschoolers are able to learn about Jesus, so we have set up their Bible Study classes to teach them in ways they learn best – HANDS ON!! We use Lifeway curriculum designed especially for each age group.
Worship Care
Worship Care begins at 10:30 am
During this time volunteers will continue to love on and care for your children while you enjoy worshiping with adults. All church members that have preschoolers are strongly encouraged to volunteer during the worship time once every eight weeks.
Our Registration and Security Procedures
Security for your child is a top priority at Safari Park. All parents are required to check in their preschooler or kindergartener at one of the computer stations to receive their name and security tags. First time attendees can register at the Preschool Welcome Desk to receive their tags. Parents must present their security tag when picking up their child.
Drop off and Pick-up Procedures
After printing security tags you will take your child to their designated classroom. A teacher will meet you at the door to receive your child. For your child’s protection, we ask parents and siblings not to enter the room. This leads to crowding and confusion. Parents of babies are asked to complete a Baby’s Schedule card and update as necessary. When you return for your child, you must present your security sticker to the teachers. (took out sentence here) Preschoolers are only released to adults with the proper security tag. If you lose your tag, you can get stop by the Preschool Welcome Desk to receive another tag by showing proper photo identification.
What to pack
- Your child’s name should be on ALL items you bring. (diaper bag, bottles, cups, pacifiers, etc.
- Only plastic bottles should be used in the preschool area.
- Please have formula already mixed for the amount of bottles your baby will need.
- Send an ample supply of diapers, wipes, and formula. If you breast feed, we have a nursing mother’s room at the end of the baby hall.
- Older preschoolers should have a change of clothes including underwear and socks.
- Bring and label any comfort items (pacifier, blanket, etc) and let the teacher know.
- We ask that you leave personal games and toys at home. Sharing can be difficult, and there are plenty of activities planned for your child while they are here.
Parking
There are designated parking places near Entrance #2 for parents with babies. Look for the Safari Park signs.
Snacks
During Worship Care preschoolers are given an age appropriate snack. These snacks include: apple juice, animal crackers, goldfish crackers, Ritz type crackers, cheerios, etc. We do not give bed babies anything other than what is brought by the parent. Babies who are bottle-fed or who drink from a sippy cup should come to church with all of those supplies in their diaper bag. Bottles should be prepared and labeled with the child’s name. If there is particular information concerning feeding that we need to know, please inform the caregiver in your child’s room.
Illness policy:
The health and well being of your child is of critical importance to us. Therefore, as a courtesy to you and other families we ask that you not bring your child into the nursery area if your child has had in the last 24 hours any of these symptoms: fever, vomiting, diarrhea, persistent cough, croup, runny nose with colored discharge, red or irritated eyes, unexplained rash, or any childhood disease or illness. If your child shows any of the above mentioned symptoms while in our care, you will be contacted to pick them up.
Wednesday Childcare
Childcare for children ages birth – kindergarten is provided for all regularly scheduled Wednesday night activities from 6:30 – 7:45 pm.
Our Curriculum – 3yr-Kindergarten
Mission Friends offers preschoolers fun and exciting learning experiences to begin understanding missions. Missions Friends helps preschoolers to:
• learn to care about others
• learn that God wants everyone to know of His love
• learn that not everyone knows about God’s love
Mission Friends also helps parents or caregivers to learn ways that they can help others know about Jesus. Each meeting topic is taught using fun, moving activities along with arts, crafts, and manipulatives. Missions and Bible skills are a part of each meeting.

Weekday Preschool Education
Our Philosophy
The philosophy of Summer Grove Weekday Preschool at Safari Park is to provide a warm, loving, safe and nurturing environment in which children can learn and grow.
We believe that each child is special, unique, and capable of learning. Our program promotes the total development of the child, physically, socially, emotionally, cognitively, and spiritually. We strive to provide each child with the skills and self-confidence they need to succeed.
We believe that “play is a child’s work.” Through play, a child learns how to explore, share, develop concentration, solve problems, and coordination. Children are provided opportunities to learn and discover through play such as group play, creative play and centers.
We believe children experience God’s love through interaction with caring, loving teachers and staff. In everything we do, we are committed to giving each child the best possible foundation for learning.
