Today’s cutting edge churches, like Summer Grove Baptist Church, are discovering a renewed passion for ministry and unprecedented involvement from members of all ages. Pastors and church leaders are embracing God’s heart for the world and transforming their churches into worldwide mission centers. When a church like Summer Grove accepts and leads the Acts 1:8 Challenge, it commits to fulfill Jesus’ last spoken words on earth by taking the gospel to their Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the ends of the earth.
Summer Grove Baptist Church is and will be forever a church that is intentional in areas of mission’s involvement under the leadership and power of the Holy Spirit.
Shreveport/Bossier and a 25 mile radius within the Ark-La-Tex
SGBC is uniquely positioned to fulfill our worldwide mission through an Acts 1:8 vision. Understanding that the local church is at the very center of God’s heart for reaching the world, our church mapped out our Jerusalem, our Judea, our Samaria and the ends of the earth. And we are discovering that we can literally change our world.
There are people in our community who need the gospel, but may never set foot in our church worship center. They are our “Jerusalem” mission field.
We understand the opportunities for ministry and service to reach our “Jerusalem.” We are looking for new community ministries and new church starts even now.
We will continue to partner with our Northwest Baptist Association in expanding our opportunities for ministry in our Jerusalem.
Our church reaching our state and the expanded Ark-La-Tex region…
We are in partnership with our Louisiana Baptist Convention to discover and develop new ministry opportunities in our Judea.
Summer Grove Baptist Church reaching our North American continent . . .
While we often think of North America as “Christian,” the reality is that an estimated 235 million people in our “Samaria” have no personal relationship with Jesus Christ. That is seven of every 10 people! The lostness of North America runs deep, and the gospel often meets a calloused response in this modern-day Samaria.
The North American Mission Board (NAMB). Wherever our interests and strategies focus in North America. The North American Mission Board will partner with us to help channel our energies there.
SGBC reaching our world . . . Thousands of people around the world are coming to a saving faith in Jesus Christ. Yet the stark reality remains: 1.7 billion people still have little or no access to the gospel message. And while Southern Baptists are going to international mission fields in unprecedented numbers, many more are needed.
Our church can have global impact through a partnership with the International Mission Board (IMB) and other mission organizations. The challenge is in reaching the more than 6,500 unreached people groups throughout the world.
The IMB is poised to help us understand the needs, overcome the barriers of culture and language, and connect us with the mission opportunities that are providentially matched with our church’s vision and resources. The ends of the earth are well within our grasp!
