Women
The Women’s Ministry of Summer Grove Baptist Church seeks to equip you as a woman of the church and our community with the tools you need to grow in your relationship with God and with other women through Bible studies, small groups, special events and other fun activities. We also seek to encourage you to use the gifts God has given you to serve and nurture others in their relationship with the Lord!

- Sisterchick Tea – All Women, All Ages join together to form new friendships with laughter, tea and the Word of God!
- True Survivors** – The Word of God tells us that He will take those things that are ugly in our lives and give us beauty for ashes. Each year, we invite a special speaker who has experienced ugly things in her past that left her broken, bruised and emotionally wounded, but through the grace of God SURVIVED and has been healed! We will learn through her experience just how God can bring healing to our lives and how we too can receive beauty for ashes like these True Survivors! (JOS Event)
Women’s Ministry Teams
Education and Discipleship
- Bible study is an integral part of Women’s Ministry at Summer Grove. There are Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer sessions offered on weekdays and evenings. Team Leader: Gerri Magee
Personal Touch
- Those that serve on this Ministry Team want to ensure that all women who become members of Summer Grove are warmly greeted and acknowledged. Team members make contact by phone with all new members to extend a heartfelt welcome. Team Leader: Sissy Snider
Personal Interests
- This team provides opportunities for women to give and receive ministry from the Lord and from each other. We have various activities and special events to meet the needs of women of all ages and interests. We have groups for fun, fellowship, serving others, learning home life skills, crafts, and sharing the message of God’s love in fun ways with relatives, coworkers, and friends. Whether you are brand new to the church, or have been attending for a while, you will find a warm welcome, a chance to make new friends, and an opportunity to grow as a person and as a Christian at these women’s meetings. Team Leader: Kimberly Head
Women’s Conference and Special Events
- Our Women’s Ministry has partnered with ** Journey of Sisters to help host Women’s Conferences and Special Events on the Summer Grove campus. Journey of Sisters is an incredible ministry founded by Summer Grove’s own, Debbie Covington. At these events, several hundred women from all over the Ark-La-Tex come together for a time of fun, fellowship and worship as they hear Biblical truths from nationally known speakers and singers. James, Jesus’ own brother, started out as a skeptic. See how one glimpse of the resurrected Savior turned an unbeliever into a disciple with Beth Moore’s study James: Mercy Triumphs. Once you get to know both the man and the Book of James, you’ll never be the same again.
Bible scholars compare James to the prophet Amos. In other ways, James more closely resembles the Book of Proverbs than any New Testament book. James is a book with many topics — social justice, joy, hardship, faith, reversal of fortunes for rich and poor, wisdom, gifts from above, single-mindedness, the dangers of the tongue, humility, and prayer — all of which are covered in this study.
Sunday Evening Study, 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Beginning January 15
One in a Million by Priscilla Shirer
$10 for Workbook
Room 3E; Facilitated by Debbie Covington
The Egyptians in Exodus 1 were intent on enslaving the Israelites, wearing them down so that God’s chosen people would become disillusioned and not live up to their destiny. Of the original two million Israelites who received God’s invitation to enter the Promised Land, only two actually entered it!
Similarly, modern day Christians often hear and understand the promises of God each Sunday morning at church but then rarely choose to experience them in everyday life. In One in a Million, Bible teacher Priscilla Shirer invites us to change that pattern for good, living beyond our circumstances and expecting to see God move in miraculous ways day after day. Without a doubt, we can find and follow God’s purpose for our journey. We can make it to the Promised Land!
**Childcare is available for ages birth-5th for most studies, but you must pre-register by calling 683-6949
